At the foothills of Wollumbin in the Northern Rivers lies a place designed specifically to help meaningful retreats unfold.

Gymea Eco Retreat & Spa is a purpose-built residential retreat centre near Uki, set amongst secluded subtropical rainforest and created for retreat hosts, facilitators and groups seeking an environment dedicated to regeneration, rejuvenation and transformation.

Unlike a conventional wellness resort where guests choose from the venue's own fixed programs, Gymea provides the place, accommodation, facilities and supporting infrastructure for retreat leaders to create and host their own experiences. Current programs held at the venue span wellness and detox, yoga and movement, meditation and mindfulness, breathwork and sound healing, men's and women's work, empowerment and self-development.

The retreat centre contains 20 Eco Deluxe ensuite rooms, accommodating up to 40 guests in twin-share or couple configurations. Bedding, furnishings and room materials have been selected with organic, biodynamic and environmental considerations in mind.

At the heart of the property is The Octagon, a 220-square-metre multipurpose hall with impressive acoustics and covered verandahs. The flexible space can accommodate yoga, meditation, teachings, sound work, creative workshops, performances and other group activities, giving facilitators a dedicated environment in which to deliver their programs.

The wider facilities make it possible to build an entire residential retreat around the program. Gymea provides a commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining areas, retreat accommodation, rainforest grounds and a resort-style magnesium pool, while its Healing Spa includes sauna, steam room, magnesium plunge pool, hydrotherapy spa and treatment rooms. Spa services are currently reserved for guests attending retreats at Gymea.
