First Nations and Contemporary Australian Art in the Heart of Bangalow
Ninbella Gallery provides a distinctive space for discovering Australian art in the heart of Bangalow, bringing together established and emerging artists from the local region and further afield.
The gallery has a particular specialisation in First Nations art, presenting works connected with culture, Country, storytelling, identity and contemporary artistic expression. Rather than representing a single aesthetic, the collection introduces visitors to diverse artists, materials, perspectives and practices.
Among the represented practitioners are artists whose work carries strong connections to Country and cultural identity. Melissa Ladkin, a descendant of the Awabakal, Wonnarua and Bundjalung peoples, incorporates natural ochres within her practice, while Iningai artist Ethan-James Kotiau contributes another distinctive contemporary perspective to the collection.
Alongside First Nations works, Ninbella showcases contemporary and collectable Australian art, culturally inspired pieces and cultural giftware sourced through fair and ethical trade.
For experienced collectors, the gallery provides an opportunity to explore artists and works with genuine stories behind them. For visitors simply curious about Australian art, it offers an accessible place to slow down, look closely and encounter different artistic perspectives.
Located on Byron Street in central Bangalow, Ninbella adds another dimension to the village's creative identity, connecting artist and collector, culture and contemporary practice, artwork and place.
Ninbella respectfully acknowledges that it conducts its business on the traditional lands of the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung Nation and pays respect to Elders past and present.
