Since opening in February 2025, the hospital has grown rapidly to a team of more than 120 people, but its foundation remains the same: collaboration, clinical excellence and compassionate care. SASH Gold Coast is the only emergency hospital in the region led by Critical Care Specialists, bringing advanced expertise to life-threatening conditions such as trauma, sepsis, poisoning, organ failure and respiratory distress. These clinicians undergo years of additional training beyond veterinary school, specialising in the most complex and time-critical medical situations.

A Specialist or Registrar is on site seven days a week, including public holidays, ensuring continuous expert oversight from the moment a patient arrives. In many cases, other emergency hospitals in the region refer their most complex cases here, reflecting the level of care now available locally.

The hospital’s capability is further strengthened by advanced imaging modalities, including the only MRI for pets on the Gold Coast, alongside CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and radiography. This complement of diagnostic tools allows rapid, precise diagnosis and treatment planning.

DESIGNED FOR COMFORT AS MUCH AS CARE

Yet for all its technical sophistication, the emphasis remains firmly on people and their pets. The hospital environment has been designed to reduce stress for both pets and owners, with separate cat and dog waiting areas, waiting areas for families with anxious animals, and a variety of patient housing options to optimize care and comfort. Families are encouraged to stay connected to their pets through a liberal visiting policy.
