COLONIAL CHIC IN THE CALDERA

Tweed River House, a colonial-style plantation manor located on the banks of the Tweed River in Murwillumbah, has quickly become a must-visit destination for locals and travelers alike. With its stunning views of the Wollumbin and Border Ranges, inviting bistro and bar, and elegant interior design, this riverside establishment offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern glamour.

The vision behind Tweed River House belongs to partners Gregory Lording and Phillip Hepburn, who have lovingly restored the manor to its former glory. Drawing inspiration from iconic colonial dining rooms and grand homes, the manor exudes an elegantly relaxed atmosphere that sets it apart from other establishments in the Northern Rivers region.

Guests have the choice of dining on the river verandahwith it’s panoramic views, or in the dining room, surrounded by century old pressed-tin ceilings and cooling palm fans; or for a special occasion try the formal Chandelier Private Dining Room. The ambiance is further enhanced by an oversized chandelier and a lush tropical wall mural. For those seeking a more casual experience, the newly opened lawn bar offers a relaxed riverside dining option with a tapas-style bar menu and live music most weekends.

The menu is French nouvelle cuisine, using the best of the Northern Rivers' local farms, riverways, and ocean, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. The restaurant offers prix fixe style menus from 2 & 3 course to the popular 5 course tasting (think crab, lobster, beef & chocolate textures) as well as a 9-course degustation, perfect or a long lunch or dinner. The menu includes vegan and gluten free friendly options, as well as a kids menu, ensuring there is something for every palate.

The culinary excellence of Tweed River House has not gone unnoticed, as it was

awarded a chef hat from the 2023 Australian Good Food Guide Awards. Whether you're looking for a special occasion venue or simply a memorable dining experience, Tweed River House is a destination that shouldn't be missed.
